About Us What We Do Dispatches Get in Touch

Three things we do well

We keep the scope narrow on purpose. These are the three things we offer, described honestly.

01 — For individuals and small groups

Workshops

We run half-day and full-day workshops in our Olsztyn studio on Prosta street. Sessions are limited to six participants. Each person works at their own lathe with hands-on instruction from the start.

The half-day session (4 hours) covers the fundamentals: how a lathe works, safe tool handling, basic spindle turning, and a first introduction to ornamental cutting. Participants complete a small decorative disc. The full-day session (7 hours with a lunch break) goes further into hollowing, indexing and pattern cutting. Participants complete a more complex piece.

Who this is for: Anyone who wants to understand the technique from the inside. No prior woodworking experience is required. We accept groups of friends, design professionals who work with craftspeople, and people who simply want to make something well.

  • All tools and materials provided
  • Maximum 6 participants per session
  • Half-day: Saturdays 9:00 – 13:00, 380 PLN per person
  • Full-day: Saturdays 9:00 – 17:00, 680 PLN per person
  • Private group bookings available on request (Monday–Friday)
  • You take your finished piece home
  • Written summary of techniques used, provided after the session

We do not offer online workshops. The technique requires physical contact with the tool and wood. A video cannot replace that.

02 — For collectors and gift-givers

Bespoke Commissions

We accept a small number of commission pieces each year — typically eight to twelve. Each piece is made to a specific brief, worked entirely by hand in our studio, documented and signed.

Commissions begin with a written brief, which we review and respond to within ten working days. If we can make what you are describing, we will outline the approach, the wood species we propose to use, the estimated timeline and the price. There is no charge for this initial exchange.

Who this is for: Collectors of studio craft, people looking for a significant gift, and organisations that want a meaningful object connected to a specific occasion or history.

  • Each piece is unique — we do not repeat commissions
  • Written documentation of species, technique and dimensions included
  • Typical lead time: 8 to 14 weeks from confirmation
  • Prices begin at 1,800 PLN for small objects; larger or more complex work is quoted individually
  • 50% deposit on confirmation, remainder on completion
  • EU shipping included; non-EU shipping quoted separately

We decline commissions that require reproducing a specific branded or trademarked design, or that involve materials we do not regularly work with (metal, stone, composite).

03 — For restorers and collectors

Restoration Consultations

If you have antique turned woodwork — furniture components, decorative objects, lathe machinery — and need an assessment, attribution opinion or restoration guidance, we offer written and in-person consultations.

We do not carry out full restoration work ourselves (that is a different skill set and we are honest about the boundary). What we can do is examine a piece, identify the likely technique and period, describe what a restoration should involve and — where relevant — recommend specialists we trust.

Who this is for: Private collectors, auction houses needing a technical opinion, conservation departments, and restorers who want a second read on a specific turning technique.

  • Written consultation (photographs, description): 280 PLN, delivered within 15 working days
  • In-person consultation at our studio (bring the piece): 420 PLN, by appointment
  • Expert witness statements and auction catalogue contributions quoted on request
  • We do not provide valuations — that requires a certified appraiser

We are not certified appraisers and our consultations do not constitute a formal valuation for insurance or sale purposes.

Not sure which fits your situation?

Write or call and describe what you are looking for. We will tell you honestly whether we can help and what it would involve.
